Former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s son Ghassan Maumoon was reportedly summoned and questioned by police late Monday over the largest tourism scandal in the history of the archipelago.
According to sources, the police had summoned Ghassan – now a lawmaker two days before.
We understand that the youngest son of Gayoom was questioned about his alleged involvement in the graft scandal of over USD 79 million from Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC).
Ghassan was identified as a possible beneficiary of the scandal in the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) report, while he was also active in Al Jazeera’s inquiry into the ‘Stealing Paradise’ scandal.
