The new visa agreement signed with neighbours India will ease the procedure of visa for Indians attempting to get employed, said the president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said on Wednesday.
Signing of the agreement took place during president Solih’s state visit to India in the act of two country’s reseting bond after the late downturn.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stated about the new agreement to be acknowledged of common concerns while having it ensured of upgrading people-to-people contacts.
President Solih acclaimed the agreement as one which will allow Maldivians sending their children to India for educational purposes, to be able to give them company.

Speaking during a press conference to brief the media on his maiden state visit, president Solih said in return for the generous leeway offered to Maldivians from India, Maldives would ease the process Indians had been facing to get work visa in the island nation.
Maldives, under former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom, immigration had compressed granting work permits to Indians since March.
Indian media reports show that about 29,000 Indians live and are employed in Maldives and about 2,000 have awaiting applications for approval.
“We will ease the recent difficulty faced by Indians in getting work visa in the Maldives,” Solih replied when asked what would India get from the new visa agreement.
