Hay Festival To Be Held in Addu City, Maldives

The literary and cultural gathering “Hay Festival” is to be held in Addu City next year.

The event is an internationally recognized annual literature festival which brings readers and writers together to share stories and ideas in sustainable events around the world.

The Hay Festival is normally held in Wales, but in recent years the festival has expanded globally and has been held in multiple countries.

Addu City’s council tweeted stating that this is an excellent opportunity to promote Addu culture, history and heritage and put Addu City on the global tourist map.

This is the second installment of the literary and cultural festival held in the Maldives. The first which was held during the presidency of Mohamed Nasheed in 2010, brought  novelists, scientists, politicians, historians, journalists, musicians, artists, and scholars to talk about their work as well as relevant social and political issues, was concluded very succesfully.
