Aasandha To Initiate Services At Ninewells Hospital For Maldivians in Sri Lanka

The Aasandha team recently visited the Ninewells Hospital in Sri Lanka to tour the facility and sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to provide health insurance services to Maldivians living in Sri Lanka.

The Marketing Director of Ninewells Hospital Nilantha Rathnayake stated that they are delighted to establish the agreement with Aasandha and that they look forward to working with them in order to provide convenient medical and health insurance solutions to Maldivians. He further stated the Ninewells has been a leading private hospital specializing in women and childcare services and also spoke about the popularity of the hospital among Maldivians.

Earlier, the Aasandha scheme provided universal health insurance only in situations where required medical services were not available in the Maldives.

However, recently in April, Aasandha announced the introduction of the Merana Scheme under which Maldivians living in Sri Lanka would be able to apply for health insurance services. The Merana Scheme extends the Aasandha scheme, providing additional services such as labour, gynaecology and childcare services.

Commenting about their visit, Mariyam Shafeeq, Managing Director of Aasandha stated that Ninewells Hospital is a preferred choice among Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka. She also commented on the quality and standard of services offered by the hospital stating that she is glad that health insurance services will be provided to eligible Maldivians through a top-tier hospital such as Ninewells.

“The hospital offers state-of-the-art technology, highly specialized care and a comfortable and family-oriented ambience for patients, which has made it a popular choice among both the locals and the Maldivians,” she said.

A total of 150,000 rufiyaa will be covered for the treatment they get at Ninewells Hospital by the Merana scheme for Maldivians who register for the plan. The total incorporates 10,000 rufiyaa for outpatient services. Inpatient services will be covered to the absolute available sum under the scheme including admission fees.
