New Lagoon swimming club to teach autistic kids to swim

New Lagoon swimming club initiates a project to teach autistic kids how to swim.

A small ceremony was held at Maafannu Rasfannu to start off the project. The chief guest to start the ceremony was the State Minister for Transport Ministry Mr. Ahmed Adil along with the Minister for fisheries and Agriculture Ms. Zaha Waheed and Ms. Aisha Shujoon from the Supreme Court.

The clubs head coach Ismail Faruhan stated that the club associated a similar project earlier and 30 successful participants learned how to swim as well.

Even though the programs had a halt, this time 10 participants have participated in this class this time. For each student, a coach will be there and once the student learns the student will be replaced with a new student, states the head coach.

For this year’s classes, Dhiraagu has agreed to sponsor all the student’s jerseys.

New Lagoon is a club who has developed a lot of national swimmers in the Maldives.
