In a voluntary repatriation program organized by the Indian High Commission, 339 Indian nationals currently living in the Maldives have been evacuated back to India.
The operation effort was conducted via two charter flights operated by Indigo airlines. The first flight carried 170 passengers to Trichy while the second flight carried 169 passengers to the capital New Delhi.
Various efforts have been underway organized by the Indian government in collaboration with the Maldivian government as well to repatriate a large number of Indians back to their country.
