Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed ended his term as the Maldives Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) and as the Ambassador to US and Canada this Friday.
Appointed as an ambassador in the former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration, Dr. Naseer tweeted expressing appreciation and gratitude to the current President Ibrahim Solih, and the Foregin Minister Abdulla Shahid. He continued saying that it was his privilege to join a distinguished group of public servants who represented Maldives at the UN.
Dr. Naseer also made a call to the UN’s Secretary General Antonio Guterres, to bid farewell on conclusion of his term as the permanent representative of Maldives to UN.
Prior to being appointed as an ambassador, he held the position of Foreign Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dr. Ali Naseer, who held the post since 2017 is expected to be replaced by Thilmeeza Hussain, recently appointed by President Ibrahim Solih.
