2000 quotas have been allocated to the Maldives by the Saudi Government for the annual Hajj, says Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs, Shafiu Ali.
Saudi Government initially allocated 1000 quotas for the Maldives, however much like the past three years, an additional 1000 quotas are to be given by the Kind of Saudi, totaling to 2000 quotas.
Rumors about the cancellation of the additional 1000 quotas were addressed by Mr. Shafiu, stating that assurance of the additional quotas have been given by top Saudi officials, and quotas would be officially allocated to Maldives soon.
He further explained that the addition quotas are given depending on the remaining quotas from other countries, hence the delay.
50% of the quotas will be given to the Hajj Corporation while the other 50% will be given to individual Hajj groups. The evaluation of these groups are currently being carried out and the results will be announced soon.
