India has donated MVR 14 Million to the Maldives to help build a conventional center and military school in Alif Alif Ukulhas.
Foreign Minister, Abdulla Shahid states that this donation is part of the MVR 100 million donated by the Indian government to aid in the development of the island nation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from the MVR 14 million, MVR 7.8 million will be allocated to build the conventional center. The center is said to help promote ‘Ukulhas Council’, the guest houses operating in the island and many more. The other MVR 6 million will be used to make a special military school and run projects to help provide the officers with necessary training and education to improve their skills and services.
The details announced by the Ministry also revealed that this donation was initiated by the External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj in her last visit to the Maldives.
