The perpetrator responsible for several death threats to members of the parliament has been identified.
Police had been probing a number of hate speech and death threats to the parliament members and other parties since the disappearance of Ahmed Rilwan in the year 2014, however, failing to find the culprit. Now, after four years, the newly formed Commission of Disappearances and Deaths, in a recent tweet has announced that the perpetrator has been identified.
The former president Dr Mohammad Waheed Hassan and the former member of the parliament for Hinnavaru constituency and the current president of the Maldives, Mr Ibrahim Solih have fallen victim to this ominous threats through text messages in the same year.
Other prominent figures that the offender victimized include parliament members, Eva Abdulla, Rozaina Adam, Maria Ahmed Didi, Ali Azim, Riyaz Rasheed and the former president of the Maldives parliament and the current foreign minister Mr Abdullah Shahid.
The Commission of Disappearance and Deaths tweeted, requesting all the members that received the death threats to cooperate with them by consigning their phone records to the commission at the earliest.
