All of the indictments raised against the former vice president Ahmed Adeeb have been acquitted.
Even though discharged from prison, Adheeb’s 2-month house arrest will be followed through as the Supreme Court has supported the decision.
The charges were dropped in order for it to be reviewed.
Adeeb was sentenced to a combined 33 years in prison regarding 3 separate charges. Cleared today, was the 8-year sentence against his involvement in the MMPRC corruption scandal.
The 15-year sentence on allegations he conspired to assassinate the former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom in the “Finifenmaa” boat explosion and the 10-year sentence for the criminal possession of a pistol were both annulled earlier this month.
