The government of Maldives once again called for an all party talks just moments ago.
In a statement released by the President’s office, states a congratulation note stated to the running mate elected by the joint coalition of the opposition who will be working alongside the nominated presidency candidate Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ‘Ibu’. It is believed that a safe and peaceful campaign would be underway by both the sides after the election of a running mate from the joint opposition side.
This statement also emphasized for the parties to conduct peaceful rallies, campaign activities such and such. This includes the government calling once again for an all party talks to discuss with the opposition side for Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and MP Faisal Naseem for a fair and reasonable election to be commenced later at the end of September.
The government had tried for all party talks before as well failing as the opposition never responded to any of the invitations. The government had been trying for an all party talks since 2015.
