The governments of the Republics of Maldives and India has signed MoUs to strengthen and develop different sectors.
The MoUs include; one between the Maldives’ Civil Service and the National Centre for Good Governance, which will facilitate training and capacity building programs for Maldivian civil servants in a wide range of fields. An MoU between the Maldives Customs Service and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs of the Republic of India were also signed. This agreement is intended to strengthen the capacity of Maldives’ Customs and help modernize their services.
In addition to this, a service to provide ferry services for passengers and cargo shipping between the port of Cochin and Kulhudhuhfushi or any other mutually agreed ports were also discussed and signed.
Furthermore, two MoUs were signed with regards to the health sector, which includes cooperation between the nations in cancer treatment and research along with the training of medical professionals.
