Maldivian runner, Mohamed Rasheed has claimed the number one spot in Thailand’s renowned Laguna Phuket International Marathon held today at Laguna Phuket.
Mohamed completed the race in 16 minutes and 43 seconds, making this the first time a Maldivian has won an international 5km race.
The Laguna Phuket International Marathon is an addition to his recent achievements as he claimed third place in Osim Sundown Marathon held in Singapore. Mohamed also participated in a half marathon in New Delhi held in February, early this year and managed to achieve third place in the marathon as well. These recent achievements marked an important milestone for him in his career.
He is currently preparing to represent the country with the Maldivian marathon squad in the upcoming South Asian Games set to take place later this year.
