PM Modi, during his two-day state visit, stated that India will contribute their expertise and help in the conservation efforts of the Hukuru Miskii or Old Friday Mosque.
He stated this during his address to the parliament and further shed light on how the cultures and traditions of both countries are interlinked. He also stated that the languages of both countries have many similar words and this is due to the relationship both countries have had since ancient times.
PM Modi compared to the two countries as flowers in the same garden and the preservation and protection of the languages of the Maldivian people and their traditions will make India and Indians proud. He also further mentioned the fact that the mosque shows the craftsmanship and creativity of the Maldivian forefathers and how the limestone carvings are only found in the Maldives the way they are and he is proud to be providing assistance in helping preserve this national artefact.
