In an effort to show solidarity with the people and country affected by the terrorist bombings in April, Speaker of Parliament Nasheed along with his MDP envoy, the Vice President Mr Faisal Naseem has travelled to Srilanka.
The envoy consists of MDP members, parliament members and members of the party in the cabinet and is planning to host a special function tomorrow in Srilanka.
MDP and the country of Srilanka have history between them. The party’s inception was in that country, former president Nasheed was in exile in the country and many forms of protests and resistance was conducted in the country under MDPs banner.
Srilanka is still recovering from the attacks in April, with security measures still as strong as ever and the country slowly going back to fast-paced booming development centre it was prior to the heinous terrorist act.
