Maldives has won the bid to host the Asian Body Building and Physique Championship 2020 (Mr Asia 2020).
This was announced via a tweet by the Youth Minister on Friday.
The bid was won after fierce competition from Nepal and Vietnam. The Secretary-General of Body Building Association of the Maldives, Mr Ismail Rifau, stated that the bid was won due to the fact that the Government backed up the bid and other countries did not have a government backing. He thanked the government and the executive committee of the association as well.
Furthermore, the President of the association stated that this completion is an excellent opportunity to market the country out to the world and boost tourism through out the event.
All the necessary planning and preparations will be carried out by the Body Building Association with the government acting as a backer and mediator. This competition will have over 400 participants from 28 countries and this is the first time the Maldives is hosting this competition.
