National Table Tennis Team To India In Preparation for IOIG 2019

Table Tennis Association of Maldives (TTAM), goes to India in preparation for the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) 2019 held at Mauritians on 19th of July.

The team is said to train at one of India’s leading training facilities, Pinnacle Academy located at Haryana. The academy is known to have produced multiple national level players and is a place where players from all over the world go to train. India’s Junior National Team Coach and the temporary National Team Coach play active roles as the head coach at the academy as well.

They officially began their training in April. During the training, India’s B level ranked players joined in one of their recent trip to the Maldives. In their upcoming training in India, they will be focusing on physical fitness in addition to their technical training.

The team consist of four male and five female players, making a total of nine players. the men’s team includes the Maldives champion for the past nine years, Moosa Munsif with Zeesth Naseem, Munthif Ahmed and Shaffan Ismail. The female team includes one of the greatest athletes in the Maldives, Mueena Mohamed with Jumana Ali, Rafa Naazim, and Laisa Fathuhulla. The youngest player on the team Fathimath Dheema Ali will be unable to join the training as she is currently in China completing another training.
