The Maldives signs an agreement with China to facilitate the advancement of Opthalmology in the country.
The agreement was signed by the Health Ministry of Maldives and the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China.
As per the agreement, China will help establish an eye clinic at Hulhumale’ Hospital and will be providing the necessary equipment, services from ophthalmology specialists and provide training for Maldivian nurses and doctors to help improve the quality of the service.
In addition to donating MVR 9.2 million worth equipment to the Maldives, China has held Ophthalmology camps in the Maldives in 2015 and 2017, where nearly 1000 patients were screened and 186 cataract surgeries were carried out.
Establishing an ophthalmology clinic was part of the agreement signed between the two nations in 2017.
