Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid scheduled to attend the parliament on Wednesday.
In the upcoming a press conference held at the Parliament, Secretary-General Fathimath Niusha said Minister Shahid will be answering inquiries about on the government’s progress to re-establish ties with Qatar. During the presidency of Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, ties were broken with the Islamic state.
Minister Shahid and Secretary-General have failed to attend the parliment within the notice period due to the multiple state visits they made during the period. According to the Parliament rules, if a person is being summoned to the parliament, a 14-day notice period excluding government holidays will be granted to the individual to present themselves.
In addition to this Transport Minister Aishath Nahula and Home Minister Imran Abdulla has failed to attend the parliament after being summoned.
