Ms Jayathuma Vikramanyaka stated that Maldivian youth are very capable however do not have the facilities necessary to nurture and develop themselves and that this needed change. She stated that the UN will be at the fire front in helping the Maldivian youth develop and reach new heights.
In that regard, she added that there were many areas where Maldivians excel and could excel in the future and she hopes that the community realises that and fosters the youth in the right direction. She also stated that even though the Maldives has overcome the poor literacy rates from decades prior, there is much to be done for the youth of the country.
She is currently on an official visit to the Maldives upon invitation of the youth minister to celebrate internal youth day in the country. Festivities to celebrate the day were held in the island of N. Velidhoo where she was in attendance for all the functions.
