President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed two new state ministers on Monday.
During a special ceremony held at the President’s Office, Aishath Athiya Naseer from Fuvamulah was appointed as State Minister of Education while Zilfeena Hassan from Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll was appointed as State Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services.
Aishath Athiya Naseer completed her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Nottingham and worked at Aminiya School as a principal until she was unlawfully dismissed in 2015. Later she served as the Chief Administrator of privately-run ADK Hospital.
Currently a doctoral candidate, Zilfeena Hassan received her Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Administration from the University of Abertay Dundee and her Master’s from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. She was a member of Maldivian Democratic Party’s congress committee and served as editor for a number of magazines.
