Gasim confirmed that the president, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will act on culpable individuals who express anti-religious statements, last night.
The leader of the Jumhooree party stated that the government will not allow anyone to despise Islam and will take action thoughtfully and with patience at a ceremony held at Kunooz by the Jumhooree Party.
Responding to the widespread public concern, that relevant government institutions for not taking swift action against Maldivian Democracy Network (MDN)’s report contained written accounts that contradicted the tenants of Islam, Gasim called on the public to refrain from issuing warnings to particular individuals and organizations.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs also stated that MDN’s report contained written accounts that contradicted the tenants of Islam and handed the matter over to the police, who have launched an investigation.
Although Various Islamic associations and the public raised their concerns against the report, the president of the Maldives, Ibrahim Sohil has not said anything for or against it thus far.
