The Indian government has donated a Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC) to the Maldives.
MNDF claimed that the FIC will make it more efficient for Maldivian coast guards to carry out operations to secure surrounding waters and prevent illegal activities in the area.
Built-in Goa, India, the 27-meter ship is scheduled to arrive in the Maldives this month.
In 2006, India had previously given a grant to a 46-meter coastguard vessel. The vessel is currently being used as “Huravee.” There is also a helicopter operated by officials from India in the Maldives.
