Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) today announced that a bus card will be required to travel by MPL bus from the 1st of November onwards.
MPL was incorporated on 31st July 2008 as a 100% government-owned company under the Companies Act of Maldives, with the key function to ensure efficient management and operation of government-owned ports and port facilities in the Maldives. MPL is governed under the leadership and guidance of the Board of Directors appointed by the President’s office.
Moreover, MPL is the service provider for bus travel between Male’ – Hulhumale’.
As per their announcement, the company stated that customers will be required to make use of a bus card in order to utilize the bus services provided by the Greater Male’ transport link as they will put an end to the sale of bus tickets starting from next month.
Customers were initially required to use a bus card when bus services on Sinamale’ Bridge first commenced. However, lax regulations led to tickets being allowed for travel. This causes considerable delays in bus services.
MVR 10 is charged per ticket for travel between Male’- Hulhule’ and Male’-Hulhumale’.
