The breakwater installation at Seenu atoll Maradhoo harbor has commenced as per the project’s contracted party; Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
In a press release the contractor had confirmed they have officially commenced work on 03 November 2019, Sunday. MTCC had acquired the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) permit prior to work commencement on 31 October 2019.
The Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure contracted MTCC for the project earlier this year on 30 June 2019.
Under the project, the contractor will be reclaiming a total of 18,873 cubic meters of land while a shoreline protection of 276 meters will be installed.
MTCC will also be placing a revetment spanning 340 meters in length under the project while government has contracted the company to complete the entirety of the project within a duration of 165 days.
