Six stolen phones were confiscated from a 32-year-old man who traveled between Hulhumalé and Hulhulé.
Maldives Police Services said a man was pulled over and arrested on his way to Hulhulé when he displayed suspicious behavior around 5:00 a.m. early Sunday. When he was searched at police headquarters, six mobile phones, a body spray can and MVR 235 were found, police said.
Police believe that mobile devices belong to foreign expatriates and said the authority is working to return the phones to their owners.
The police are continuing to investigate the case.
There has been an increase in robberies recently, as a result of which the police have requested more vigilance from the public.
