
The Maldivian government and Spanish football club Celta De Vigo signing ceremony to support Maldives, will be broadcast live on national television.
The signing ceremony will take place in the presence of international media at the headquarters of Celta De Vigo in Vigo, Spain. Although Tourism Minster Ali Waheed will sign the agreement, the club’s president, Carlos Mouriño, and other club officials will be present.
After signing, both partners will speak to the media to provide the partnership information. Local time will be around 1600 hours for the ceremony. The event will be broadcast live by TVM and the twitter handle of the Tourist Ministry.
Maldives will be promoted as their official sponsor under the three-year partnership between Maldives and Celta De Vigo on the jerseys, practice kits and stadium of Spain’s Celta De Vigo. For the three-year agreement, paying US$ 900,000 per year, US$ 2.7 million will be invested.
The club will expand training opportunities to develop football in the archipelago for Maldivian players, coaches and officials. The club will also compete with the national teams in friendly matches.
Celta De Vigo is a Spanish professional football club based in Vigo, Galicia, currently playing in La Liga, placed 18th in the Spanish League’s Relegation Zone. Although marketing countries on European football team jerseys is popular, the Maldives will be advertised this way for the first time.
