The Maldives Minister of Health has envisioned the implementation of mobile laboratory services across the island nation by end of 2020.
Minister of Health Mr Abdulla Ameen, while being directed with questions at Maldives Parliament on Tuesday morning regarding prospective plans of the healthcare system, noted that the government aims to invest on developing a mobile laboratory system across the country.
Health Ministry has established mobile laboratories in the islands of Kunahandhoo, Dhanbidhoo, Mundoo and Maamendhoo of Laamu atoll reducing the need for locals to travel seeking specialized treatment or laboratory services.
“Our aim is to implement the mobile laboratory system across the country by end of 2020, this will ease transport of test samples and enhance delivery of results within a short span of days,” Minister Ameen emphasized on the system’s benefits.
Government has planned on investing strongly in the healthcare system of Maldives in the upcoming year, including the procurement of ambulances and other transportation vessels.
In addition to this, government will proceed ahead in developing the mobile laboratories in other atolls apart from Laamu atoll where the service currently exists solely.
