Velana International Airport breaks its record on Air Traffic Movements

Velana International Airport (VIA) breaks its previous record on the highest number of Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) in a single Day on 23rd December 2018,  revealed Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL).

Maldives Airports Company Ltd’s (MACL) Air Traffic Management Services confirms that on 23rd December 2018 there were 110 International ATMs, 102 Domestic ATMs & 517 seaplane ATM’s at VIA. 729 is the highest ever-recorded ATM in the history of Airport since its official opening on 12th April 1966. This is an increase of 85 ATMs compared to the previous record of 644 ATM’s on 9th January 2018.

Apart from ATMS, VIA handled 17,723 International passengers and 4,269 domestic passengers totaling to 21,992 passengers on 23rd December 2018. As per seaplane operators TMA/Maldivian they have handled more than 5,500 passengers.
