The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that this year’s number of cases of dengue fever registered in the Maldives is higher than those recorded over the past two years.
This year, 4420 cases of dengue fever have been reported, according to statistics published by HPA. While this number is higher than the number of cases recorded throughout the past two years, October’s number of reported cases was lower than September’s number, HPA said.
In addition to Malé and Hulhumalé City, most fever cases were recorded from Shaviyani, Noonu, and Lhaviyani atoll, HPA stated.
The agency announced, in addition to dengue fever, that this year 1460 cases of Chikungunya have been registered. The highest occurrence of Chikungunya was recorded in Raa, and Gaafu Alifu atoll, with the exception of Malé and Hulhumalé.
