Maldives Customs Services reported two Indian nationals from Bangalore who arrived in Maldives, were detained with drugs.
Customs said they found the hidden drugs when they searched the luggage of two people aged 23 and 24 after being flagged during an x-ray scan. The drugs were confirmed by laboratory tests to be Hashish oil.
Customs said the seized narcotics weighed nearly 2,146 kg. It is calculated that the street value for opioids is MVR 572,982.
Customs said the two men were handed over to the Maldives Police Services as well as the confiscated drugs. So far this year, customs statistics show that more than 30 kg of drugs have been seized.
