Spain’s hotelier giant Barcelo Hotel Group will be managing the in-development Nasandhura complex.
The hotelier group will also concurrently step in to develop 03 resort islands in Male’ atoll.
Earlier, Sri Lanka’s Browns Investments signed on with Barcelo to work on the resort project which the former purchased.
Barcelo will be buying out the subsidiary of the resort project Bodufaru Beach Resort Pvt Ltd that owns 33.33% shares of the venture.
It has been reported the Spanish hotelier giant will invest USD30 million out of the total USD150 million expected to spend on the development.
In addition to the active involvement in the resorts’ development, Barcelo will be running the properties.
The hotelier group will also manage a currently in-development property at Alif Dhaal Bodufinolhu by Browns Investments.
In addition to this, Barcelo is expected to take managing responsibility of the Nasandhura complex which is under development.
The complex holds a hotel with 150 rooms, 150 apartments along with a shopping mall and conference hall.
The mega-complex project is carried by local NPH Investments while Browns holds majority shares.
