Maintenance facility located at Maamigili International Airport, Villa Air commences a heavy maintenance job on a Srilankan registered aircraft. This is a first in the Maldives as there has not been heavy maintenance carried out by a Maldivian Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) before.
Villa Air states that the aircraft is an ATR 72-202 owned by Fits Aviation. The aircraft departed from Ratmalana Airport and landed directly at Villa Air Maamigili International Airport.
This is the first time a Maldivian AMO Organization got the approval to carry out heavy maintenance tasks on a foreign-registered aircraft. This opportunity was granted to Villa Air after a small inspection which was carried out by the Srilankan Civil Aviation.
Villa Air states that this would not have been successful without the help of many organizations in the Maldives. Therefore Villa Air expresses gratitude to the Maldivian Civil Aviation Authority, Maldives Immigration especially. It is also their aim to expand this service and take as many opportunities such as this in the future.
