Villa Tv ceases live feed for Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League due to no payments from the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
VTVs CEO Mohamed Asif (Mondhu) states that the contract between FAM and VTV was agreed to pay monthly and until today, no payments have been received. Even though the fee for the matches was drastically smaller than other TV shows, FAM has been struggling to pay to date.
As per Mondhu, FAM has been struggling to receive payments from the ministry. Currently, Maldivian football is seeing its darkest age after the introduction to modern age football.
Currently, the stadium cannot be utilized fully as half of the stadium is under construction. Lately, the clubs are financially very low and unable to find sufficient funds as no sponsors are willing to sponsor.
Villa Tv agreed with FAM to live the evening matches and air the recording of the matches played at night time. Mondhu states that even though the live coverage is not aired, the news will be covered regarding the league.
