Landside permits to drive and licenses will be issued from the start of this month after completing a compulsory training. This was revealed by the Transport Minister Aishath Nahula while featuring live on a VTV program.
Minister states that this will be effective for all the new licenses that will be issued to landside by the transport ministry. This is mainly to prevent dangerous accidents and to make everyone familiar with regulations and reduce accidents.
The training might be conducted by the transport ministry or any designated organization by the ministry. It might even be the Maldives Police Services who carry out the training.
She also added that for the landside transport, new signboards will be added hopefully. The main reason is to improve safety alongside the Link Road as well as the Bridge between Hulhule’ and Male’.
