Due to the fire that damaged Gili Lankanfushi last Wednesday, the luxury resort has completely ceased from operating.
Followed by the fire spread to a restaurant and seven over water villas, from one of the villas were in remains of the burning. The fire was brought under control after six hours of erupting. Investigation by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) to figure what caused ignition to flames is in progress.
“I want to commend the bravery of our Gili staff for prioritising the well-being of our guests and calmly escorting them to safety as soon as the alarm was raised. And to express our deep gratitude to the firefighters from the Maldives National Defence Force who were able to contain the fire” said General Manager of the resort, David Stepetic.
Guests at the resort were vacated to nearby resorts.
The resort presently is working on providing refunds.
