Government has introduced a new vocational training program for all students under the name of Heyvallaa.
This program is being introduced to replace the discontinued Dhasvaaru program – aimed at teaching vocational skills to secondary-level students with low academic performance.
Vice President Faisal Naseem launched the Heyvalla program in a ceremony held at R. On Wednesday evening Ungoofaaru School.
In January, the Ministry of Education had discontinued the Dhasvaaru program, citing that it had been aimed solely at low academic performance students and had served to sideline those students and had other negative impacts. At the time, the Ministry of Education stated that the students who completed the Dhasvaaru program lacked the literacy and numeracy skills necessary for employment.
In contrast to the Dhasvaaru program, any interested student who has completed the 10th grade may apply to enroll on the new Heyvalla program.
