United Nations have called for a global effort to develop and distribute COVID-19 vaccines, treatments and testing kits to all at affordable prices.
At the start of a global pledging conference which aims to raise funds for the fight against the pandemic, the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres stated that the tools that will help us to fully control the pandemic should be treated as public goods which are available and affordable for all.
The WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also reiterated at the same event that the measure of success is not how fast we can develop tools, but how equally we can distribute them.
Many institutions are currently on the race to produce a very much needed vaccine, where some are under going human trials, and also with talks of some slated to be launched as early as September this year.
