Access to the Male-Hulhumale’ bridge is to be restricted from 1 am to 9 am, announces Maldives Police Service.
The decision to restrict access to the bridge which connects the capital to Velana International Airport and the city of Hulhumale’ is part of a wide effort to control a potential surge of the virus, states Malidves Police.
With the restriction to last for a 2 weeks period, all essential public service providers and security services are allowed to access to the bridge.
Male’ is currently the hot spot for the virus in Maldives, with cases rising at an alarming rate. The total tally now at 968, HPA has warned for a possible surge in the virus in the coming days.
The city is currently under an imposed lock down in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus.
