In the wake of Covid-19, President Ibrahim Solih holds the first ever online cabinet meeting in the Maldives.
With the lock down imposed in the city, and the alarming rise of cases, many government meetings have been conducted online.
According the President’s Office, the cabinet discussed on the current plan to relieve some of the measures taken to curb the virus by authorities and the role each ministry is to play when the nation enters a ‘new normal’.
This is not the first time that a cabinet meeting has been held in unorthodox circumstances. An underwater cabinet meeting was held by the former President Mohamed Nasheed in his administration to garner global attention to the adverse effects of global warming and rising sea levels to Maldives.
