Medical council has stopped accepting pre-medicine as a qualification pass to join MBBS and BDS.
In an announcement from health ministry, it has been said that pre-medicine is a course done instead of GCE A level.
Throughout the past years, there has been pre-medicine courses conducted abroad for Maldivians students and complaints were made about the negative effects financially and mentally on students.
According to the announcement, although students have completed pre-medicine, requirements to get into universities for MBBS and BDS around the world were not accomplished.
It is accepted for students who are currently doing MBBS/dental surgery after completing pre-medicine and for students who had completed pre-medicine before 14th of January 2019.
