Any and every Maldivian requiring immediate medical care abroad will be accommodated has assured the Indian government.
Earlier this week 28 Maldivians who required urgent care not available in the country and required to travel abroad flew to India after the government issued a special permit allowing them entry in to the country.
Maldives is the first ever country to be issued such a permit, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have stated that the ambassador to Maldives from India, Sunjar Sudhir met with the Foreign Minister Abdulla Shaheed and gave full assurance that more opportunities would given if required.
