Dr. Abdullah Mausoom has been appointed as the Tourism Minister.
Vice president of Jumhoori Party and former member of Kelaa dhaaira, Dr. Abdullah Mausoom was appointed and awarded by President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih today at 2:30 pm in a official meeting conducted in President’s Office.
Spokesperson of President’s Office, Ibrahim Hoodh mentioned in one of his tweets that the position of Minister of Tourism has been appointed and awarded to Dr. Abdullah Mausoom, dhaftar number 4336. In 2008, Dr. Abdullah Mausoom has been appointed for the position of Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, position of Deputy Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, and position of Minister of Environment.
In 2009, he was appointed as the member of Kelaa dhairaa and filled the higher positions of Maldives Tourism Promotion Board. Moreover, he was appointed as a board member of Maldives Association of Tourism Industry.
Dr. Abdullah Mausoom’s recent partaken positions includes, Ambassador for Singapore from Maldives, Non-Resident Ambassador for Common Wealth of Australia from Maldives, and Non-Resident Ambassador for Common Wealth of New Zealand from Maldives. Before being appointed as the Tourism Minister, he had resigned from all these positions today.
Dr. Abdullah Mausoom had achieved Doctor of Philosophy and Urban and Regional Studies from University of Birmingham in United Kingdom. Previously, he had also achieved Master of Science from Hotel and Catering category from Ulster University In United Kingdom. Dr, Abdullah Mausoom was appointed as the Tourism Minister after a few days followed by the expulsion of former Tourism Minister, Ali Waheed.
