A change has been brought to the regulation of providing income allowance in order to increase the number of people getting the allowance.
In the new change of regulation brought by due to COVID-19’s affect of people’s income rate shows that, among the people who earns through a job, those who had faced negative affects for income since 1st December of 2019 would receive the income support allowance.
However, previously it was set that income support allowance would be given to the people who’s income had been negatively affected since this May due to the COVID-19.
The aim for the regulation of providing income allowance for people who’s income has been negatively affected is for people with jobs who’s income have been negatively affected due to COVID-19 to have support in fulfilling the necessities of their daily lives with the help of the government.
The mediums/categories for people who’s job had been affected by COVID-19 is people who had been (expelled) from the job and suspended with no pay or sent on a no pay leave and people who had experienced a reduction in salary. Therefore, the regulation states that such people would be given MVR 5000 as an allowance.
Under this regulation people who experienced a reduction in salary will be given an allowance after a reduction of amount of income paid from the MVR 5000 of their salary is less that MVR 5000.
