The nominations of Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim and Ali Rasheed Hussain to the Supreme Court by President Ibrahim Solih has been approved at the Parliament’s Judiciary Committee.
The nominations announced on Wednesday were forwarded to the Judiciary committee today.
Ali Rasheed Hussain is a senior judge at the Criminal Court of the Maldives, serving since the 5th of November 2020. He has also previously served as a judge at the civil court.
Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim is a practicing lawyer of 16 years and holds a doctorate in Islamic Commercial Law from the University of Malaysia. He has also completed his Masters in Commercial Law from the UK.
