The resort Shangri-La Villingili in Addu atoll has ceased operations and closed indefinitely.
A letter signed by the General Manager Rahim Flynn addressing the employs made the statement explaining that the resort had been closed since April due the ongoing pandemic but despite efforts to restart operations during this time while maintaining the safety of employees and tourists, current circumstances led the management to cease operations indefinitely.
The resort plans to make all employees redundant minus a few handful of employees required for maintenance.
Shangri-La Villingili is run through a joint venture company withMaldivian government and Shangri-La Maldives limited, named Addu Investment Pvt Ltd.
