Velana International Airport (VIA) has received the Airport Health Accreditation from Airport Council International (ACI).
The announcement was made public by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which operates the national airport. VIA is the second airport in the whole of Asia Pacific to receive the accreditation.
The ACI’s Airport Health Accreditation program assists airports by assessing the newly implemented health procedures in the airport as precautionary measures for COVID-19 in accordance with the ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Task Force recommendations. VIA received the certification after a undergoing a strict assessment by ACI.
The certification of accreditation was awarded by World’s Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira to MACL’s CEO and Managing Director Gordon Stewart.
