Flights from the Maldives is to land at Ratmalana Airport instead of the country’s international airport Bandaranaike International Airport, decides the Sri Lankan government.
Sri Lanka’s Tourism Minister, Mr Prasanna Ranatunga, speaking to local media said that flights from the Maldives and some southern parts of India will land at the country’s first international airport, Ratmalana Airport. The airport which is now only used for domestic flights have been authorized by the country’s government to be used for international travel as well.
Minister also highlighted that more than 9000 Maldivians reside in the Ratmalana area and that discussions have been carried out between Maldivian, the national flag carrier of the Maldives, and Fly Me.
