Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) has decided to present a parliamentary bill introducing income tax in Maldives.
According to the draft of the bill, income tax is to be taken from earners of 60,000 – 100,000 per month in the rate of 3.5%.
While people who earn between 100,000 – 150,000 are to pay income tax in the rate of 6.5%, 10% of tax is to be taken from 150,000 – 200,000.
Income tax in the rate of 15% would be taken from earnings higher than the aforementioned.
It is one of the pledges of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to take income tax from people who have above 60,000 as monthly income.
